Kpg Tengah Meludam fire victims received aid

MELUDAM: Women, Family and Community Development Minister Dato’ Seri Rohani Abdul Karim yesterday presented aid to three families, who are fire victims in Kampung Tengah Meludam here.

The aid, worth RM12,600, came in the form of food, kitchen utensils, clothing, pocket money, school stationery, school uniforms, bedding, and building materials.

Rohani who is also Batang Lupar Member of Parliament said the ministry, was concerned about the welfare of the families affected by the fire and observed that the State Social Welfare Department provided immediate help to them.

“The ministry, through the State Social Welfare Department, is always attentive to those who have gone through such tragedies.

“This reminds us that while celebrating Hari Raya, we should not forget about the less fortunate. Let us together show our sympathy and shower them with some happiness through the contributions given,” she said.

The fire which occurred around 6.15pm on 25 June destroyed the home of Awang Latip Awang Lengki, 79, as well as two neighbouring houses.

Following the incident, Awang Latip’s family of 10 is staying with their relatives until now.

Betong Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) is still investigating the actual cause of fire.
