KUCHING: The Kuching Food Festival 2023 has attracted over one million visitors, said Kuching South Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng.

He said the second last night of the event on Saturday (Aug 19) drew a record 90,000 visitors.

“This was a new record for the most visitors in one night.

“Last week we recorded around 81,000 visitors but last night (Aug 19) we recorded 90,000 visitors,” he told reporters after officiating at the Kuching South Classic Bodybuilding 2023 at the MBKS theatre on Sunday (Aug 20).

Wee added that the Kuching Zumba Fiesta 2023 which was held at Stadium Hoki on Saturday (Aug 19) attracted around 4,000 participants and contributed to the new record.

He said last year’s overall number stood at 1.13 million visitors and hoped the Kuching Food Festival would continue to exceed last year’s numbers with Sunday (August 20) being the last night of the festival.

At the same event, Wee and Kapitan Desmond Thian and Douglas Jerukan received the Sarawak Bodybuilding Icon Award 2023.
