The Laksamana Pelita team which emerged champion as ‘Raja Batang Limbang’ during the closing of the Limbang Festival 2017, yesterday.

LIMBANG: The Limbang Festival 2017 came to a close yesterday with the staging of boat races in 15 categories.

Laksamana Pelita team belonging to Dato Sajeli Kipli emerged champion as King of Batang Limbang (Raja Batang Limbang).

In second place was Punang Bersatu team owned by Latiroswadi Abdul Latip while in third place was Tabuan Sundar team owned by Liaw Chin Aik.

The main focus of yesterday’s boat race on the Limbang River was the power boat races which also attracted boat racers from Brunei.

Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hassan who is also Minister of Industrial Development and Entreprenuer and Second Minister of Urban Development and Natural Resources said the holding of Limbang Festival, Lawas Festival and other festivals here will be arranged for the better in future.

He also noted the potentials of Teluk Brunei with the sea, beaches and mountains as a very beautiful landscape which can be promoted as a new tourist destination.

Awang Tengah also hoped that water sports involving the participation of Brunei, Sabah, Federal Territory of Labuan and Limbang Divison can be held at Teluk Brunei some day.
