Claimants of native customary rights (NCR) land are urged to be prepared and cooperate with the Land and Survey Department to carry out the perimeter survey of individual lots.

Urban Development and Resources Assistant Minister Datuk Len Talif Salleh said that this was necessary in order to obtain the land titles under Section 18 of the Sarawak Land Code.

He said this in reply to a question from Alexander Vincent (GPS-Ngemah) on plans to conduct the survey of NCR land in the latter’s constituency in the near future.

“This is along with the official request presented to the Sibu Division Land and Survey Department,” he stated.

Len Talif also revealed that five areas in Ngemah measuring 32,769 hectares or 80,972 acres have undergone perimeter surveys.

“These are gazetted as the Bumiputera Communal Reserve (Agriculture).”

To a question raised by Allan Siden Gramong (GPS-Machan), Len Talif said that five areas in Machan measuring 7,337 hectares or 18,130 acres of NCR land had their perimeters measured under the new initiative of NCR Land Measurement Programme.
