DALAT: The Dalat Waterfront Phase 2 is arguably the latest most prominent landmark in this town.
For the local people, it means a lot as they have been yearning for such a development for a long time.
They are obviously proud of it as can be seen by the way the gather around and gawk at the sight.
It is expected that the facility would be well-used whenever there is a big public celebration. At least that’s what they hope would happen as soon as the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic is over.
A few people who were out enjoying the facility were asked about it and they had a lot to say. However, only a few comments have been selected due to the limited space allocated for them.
Hadiah Jeraie, 65 (Self-employed Dalat and Mukah District Council councillor)
The waterfront is a source of pride for us. We thank Dalat assemblywoman Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah for having worked hard to make it a reality.
Pon Akie, 67 (Dalat District Sago Smallholders Association chairman)
The town people now have a good place for activities such as zumba, recreation and family fun.
Ella Mohd Othman, 32 (Parti Pesaka Bumiutera Bersatu (PBB) Kampung Brunie sub-branch chairperson and Beliawanis Kampung Brunei chairperson)
The waterfront is good for family outing and recreation. It is now a bigger space to host the biennial regatta and Balau carnival.
Hamden Narudin, 46 (Dalat State constituency Service Centre staff)
Glad that we now have a suitable place to hold big events such as a regatta. Good place for recreation too.
Yam Biat, 49 (Self-employed) It adds beauty to Dalat bazaar and the riverbank. Good place for relaxing and organising big events.
Penghulu Sim Tan Chuan, 50
Finally, we have something we are proud of. The waterfront is definite pleasant to look at and to use. I hope the public and the council would look after it properly.
