KUCHING: The Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) organised a fire prevention awareness programme to benefit homeowners in the Darul Hana area.

The programme held at Darul Hana Mosque on Sunday (Feb 12) was aimed at encouraging homeowners to purchase home insurance, learn about fire prevention and control among the residents while strengthening ties between residents and government agencies.

“The LCDA has taken the initiative to provide awareness to the village folk, especially to residents who have moved to the new settlement area of Darul Hana, in order to prevent fires.

“This is because there are frequent fire cases in the villages and victims have lost their homes due to the total destruction,” LCDA said in a statement.

The agency said the programme also involved briefing sessions on the importance of home fire insurance plans by Transnational Insurance Brokers (M) Sdn Bhd.

There were demonstration sessions on how to use portable fire extinguishers by Saraneo Sdn Bhd and fire extinguishing demonstrations by the State Fire and Rescue Department.
