KUCHING: All assemblypersons in the state should help their local non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and associations in their effort to provide services towards the community.

According to Batu Kitang Assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang, local NGOs and associations need funding to run their activities which would benefit the whole society.

“For that, I would like to encourage more assemblymen to be alert and concern with the local NGOs and association.

“We are not feeding them, but helping them to help themselves so that they in turn can help others,” said Lo.

He told this to reporters during his visit to the Sarawak Women for Women Society (SWWS) office at Jalan Rock, yesterday.

Lo also noted that Sarawak is lucky to have many NGOs and associations around that provide helping hands.

He said if the public should play their parts too in helping the NGOs and association by supporting their programmes and activities.

“I believe that all of us should contribute to help in this matter and if we could do that, Sarawak would be a better place for all of us,” said Lo.
