Malaysia, Turkey to jointly address concerns related to Islamophobia

BAGHDAD: Turkey and Malaysia will further enhance and strengthen their bilateral relations and jointly address concerns related to Islamophobia, says Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

Fidan said the matter was discussed with his Malaysian counterpart Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir who is Iran for his maiden official visit to Iraq from Wednesday to Friday (Aug 25).

“During the meeting, discussions were held on potential collaborative actions concerning our bilateral relations and Islamophobia,” Anadolu Agency reported, citing a statement from the twitter account of Turkish Foreign Ministry.

Fidan, who is in Iraq on a three-day visit, also met his counterpart, Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations Affairs and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Fuad Hussein.

Meanwhile, Zambry, who is here at the invitation of Fuad, paid courtesy call on Iraqi leaders and held a bilateral meeting with Fuad to follow up on the discussion held at the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) on July 5, 2023.

Zambry’s visit to Iraq, which marks his first official trip to the republic since assuming office on Dec 2, 2022, was accompanied by senior government officials from his ministry and business delegations.– BERNAMA-ANADOLU
