KUCHING: The years of almost endless political squabbles and quarrels in Malaysia especially in the Peninsula, are making Malaysians politically very tired, weary and sick, said political analyst Datuk Peter Minos here today.

In a press statement, Minos added that Malaysians thus just want political peace and stability.

“Enough of the difficult and troubled political past. The current mood is for the current federal government to settle down and start doing its work of running the country and governing the people, devoid of political disturbance and instability,” he said.

“People are not really bothered of how the federal government was created. People want what happened as the past and as history,” he said.

He added that the past is past and and the people wants to start anew is the general sentiment especially as the new year 2023 is just around the corner.

“Many are saying: just have a new fresh start in 2023 and be done away with the difficult and problematic past.

“For us in Sarawak and what I have been hearing in the last few days since the formation of the federal government, the people are pretty happy of what happened: that Sarawak was given five full federal ministers, six deputy ministers, a deputy prime minister n Sarawak”s powers under MA63 be returned within a month,” he said.

“Sarawakians are said to be satisfied with the treatment by the new federal government and indeed so.

“With its MA63 powers back and restored and presumably more federal and Petronas funds coming in, Sarawak cannot ask or wish for more. Anything else from the federal side is an extra bonus,” he said.

“We can even say that a fair and just treatment of Sarawak by the Federal government is now actively and positively coming up. That itself is a cause for some jubilation,” Minos said.

“Definitely a new political chapter is opening up for us in Sarawak, thanks to the new federal government and, of course, to GPS strength in unity and a wise Premier.

“May we look forward to a really happy and joyous new year,” he said.
