MUKAH: A 23-year-old male nurse here was arrested recently for drugs (ganja) possession by the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID) of Mukah district police headquarters.
Local police chief DSP Jimmy Panyau said the suspect, who was working in a private sector in Sibu, was arrested in front of a hotel at Jalan Orang Kaya Setia Raja here on Aug 16 at about 1.45pm.
“During a body check on the suspect, police found and seized a red and white sock-shaped sachet held in his left hand.
“It contains another black plastic bag filled with seven small transparent packets containing pieces of dry leaves suspected to be ganja weighing about 6.86g,” he said in a statement last Tuesday.
He added the suspect was brought to the police station for further investigation, and a urine test found that he was drug positive.
According to him, the suspect was remanded for four days from Aug 17 to 21 for further investigation, while the case is being investigated under Section 6 and Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
