KUCHING: A 22-year-old man was arrested on Saturday (March 30) at 1.30 pm after police found tools allegedly used for break-ins and cables in his car.

Padawan district police acting chief DSP Lim Jaw Shyong said in a statement that police patrolling Jalan Ensing Timur, Batu Kawa on March 29 at around 3.20 am discovered that the man was driving a black sedan suspiciously in the area.

Lim added that when the suspect realised the presence of the police, he rushed off and tried to escape.

“While speeding, he crashed into a tree at a road divider on Jalan Utama Batu Kawa.

“He managed to escape and left the scene of the accident. When police arrived to make inspections, they found various tools and cables that had been cut,” he said.

Following the suspect’s arrest the following day, Lim said further inspections were made by the police. They found the suspect had two past records of drug related offences.
