MIRI: A 44-year-old man was arrested by the police in Kampung Pujut Tanjong Batu here on Wednesday for allegedly spitting at and threatening to hit his mother with a metal rod.
The incident happened around 7am at a house when the suspect is believed to have gone furious after failing to find his bank and identification cards.
He then spat at his 65-year-old mother, accusing her of hiding his belongings and threatening to hit her with a metal rod.
Following the incident, the victim went to a police station and lodged a police report for her safety.
According to Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, the suspect was arrested within the same day and taken to the Miri central police station lock-up for further action.
The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
