MIRI: A local man died on the spot following a fatal two-vehicle collision along Jalan Jee Foh Utama just several minutes before the clock struck 12am for Chinese New Year (CNY).
The accident, which involved a sports utility vehicle (SUV) and a sedan, is believed to have happened around 11.55pm last night (Jan 21).
A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Miri station were promptly despatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call.
On arrival, the team found an unconscious man in the SUV, and he was later brought out of the vehicle.
However, the victim, identified as Lim Tze Kiat, 37, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
The body was then handed over to the police to be taken to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the other driver was rescued by passersby and taken to the hospital before the team arrived at the scene.
