MIRI: A man was arrested on Monday (May 31) for assaulting his wife during a heated argument in their home in Permyjaya here.
Also seized was a 45-cm long machete.
Miri deputy police chief Supt Sabri Zainol said the 41-year-old man was picked up at his house by a team of personnel from the Miri Criminal Investigation department yesterday following a report lodged by his 24-year-old stepson.
During the argument, which occurred on Sunday (May 30) around 8 pm, the suspect allegedly beat his wife.
The suspect’s stepson, who witnessed the commotion, tried to stop his stepfather from beating his wife and was threatened with a machete.
