Police arrest the suspect for allegedly causing injuries to his nephew with a machete.

MARUDI: Police here arrested a man for allegedly causing injuries to his nephew with a machete last Wednesday.

It was reported that the incident happened when the suspect went to the victim’s house at Long Teru, Tinjar Baram to take the victim’s phone.

However, the suspect’s action was reprimanded by the victim’s mother who was also at the scene at the time.

Angered after being told off, the 49-year-old suspect kicked the woman before attacking her son with a machete.

Due to the attack, the 32-year-old man was wounded on his left arm and neck. He was subsequently taken to Long Lama health clinic for treatment.

Marudi OCPD DSP Mohd Ruslan Mat Kib in a statement, said the district’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) managed to arrest the suspect the next day (Thursday) at around 4.30pm.

Aside from that, the machete used in the incident, was also seized as evidence.

It is believed that the motive was due to old grudges.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing injuries with a weapon.
