SIBU: Cancer patient Yong Chin Ping, 50, is urgently seeking donations to cover the cost of his treatment, which amounts to RM855,000.
Yong, a noodle stall operator, is currently undergoing treatment in Kuching, and has been receiving treatment for the past six months, with each month’s treatment costing RM38,600.
To complete his treatment over the next year and a half, he requires more funds.
“This amount is a huge burden on me and I am appealing for public donations,” he told a press conference at the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bukit Assek Service Centre here today.
Yong, who is married with two children aged 16 and 23, discovered he had cancer on Dec 2 last year during a medical check-up at the Sibu General Hospital.
Unfortunately, the cancer was already at Stage 4.
“In November last year, I experienced a sudden onset of left sided weakness and unreasonable loss of weight where my weight dropped by about 12kg within the past two years,” he said.
A CT scan at a private medical centre in Kuching revealed a large tumour approximately 10cm in size in his right renal area.
The cancer cells had also spread to adjacent organs, including the liver, inferior vena cava, right atrium (heart), lungs, and brain.
“My condition has improved from the six-month of new type of treatment at the centre. I have since then gained 10kg and could consume food. The treatment is for two years,” he said.
To support Yong in his battle against cancer, the public can make donations to his Public Bank account 4-3664950-20.
