SIBU: Marine police seized a total of 25,754 litres of diesel from two vessels at a private jetty along Batang Igan here in an operation codenamed Ops Taring Pensura yesterday (Aug 7).

Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said a team of officers from the Region 5 Sibu Marine Police Force inspected the vessels berth at the jetty and discovered the diesel stored on board the vessels without any valid permits from the  Ministry of Domestic Trade and Costs of Living (KPDN).

The enforcement team picked up a 40-something local man who was transferring the fuel from one vessel to another.

“The team found approximately 25,754 litres stored on board the vessels.

“Also seized were two oil pumps and one nozzle hose, and the total estimated value of the confiscated items is RM 259,060,” he said.

The case is being investigated under the  Control of Supplies Act 1961. The detained man and the seized items have been referred to the KPDN in Sibu for further action.
