KUCHING: The Federal government has yet to fully disburse the RM50 million allocation for longhouse loans to Sarawak.

This was disclosed by Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing in a press conference at Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Headquarters here, yesterday.

He hoped that the relevant authority could solve the matter urgently because there are many families who are in dire need of the loan.

“The loan can be applied for two reasons namely for a total reconstruction and for repair works. Our main concerns are both.

“This fund should be channel quickly to those who need them so that it can be used to solve the people’s problems within the shortest time frame and within this year as well,” said Masing.

He also said that for the reconstruction works, a minimum of 10 households is needed for a group loan application which must be endorsed by a member of the state legislative assembly (ADUN).
