SIBU: Early childhood education in kindergartens is crucial for fostering the 3Ms (reading, writing, and arithmetic) at the early stages of a child’s life.

The director of the State Department of National Unity and Integration (JPNIN), Dirwana Azool, said that before reaching primary and secondary school levels, children should be able to master the 3Ms.

“It all starts in kindergarten; that’s why kindergarten is very important, as this is where we first begin to hone their talents and their enthusiasm for learning, especially with the 3Ms. Mastery of the 3Ms should start at the kindergarten level,” he said.

He said this in his speech at Majlis Konvokesyen 2023/2024 Dan Pintar Kreatif Tabika Perpaduan Bahagian Sibu with a total of 300 kindergarten students celebrated at the Dewan Kelab Melayu Kampung Nyabor (MUC) here today.

Dirwana emphasised that the 3Ms are the three main elements that enable children to think about what they can ultimately do and what they cannot do.

“It is important for shaping a better future life by forming perfect personalities, especially when stepping into the realm of schooling.

“Therefore, I urge parents to continue to commit to their children by dedicating time and effort to hone their talents and educate them.

“Do not entrust all the responsibility of teaching children solely to teachers because the emergence of excellent children also starts from home,” he added.
