KUCHING: Three suspects were caught and another three are on the run for their involvement in the Matang armed assault case on Aug 21, said Sarawak Deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata.

Mancha stated that a total of eight individuals linked to the case have been successfully apprehended, while they are still making efforts to locate and arrest three more suspects.

He said this during a press interaction at the Community Policing Programme organised by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) at the Kampung Semaba community hall today (Aug 26).

He added that the suspects were all local males aged between 20 and 51 years old.

The initial arrest targeted an individual suspected to be the leader of the gang in the Semariang and Matang areas.

He emphasised that a comprehensive review of the arrest records has revealed a notable pattern: the majority of the suspects have a connection to drug-related activities.

Also present were Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang and Padawan district police chief SAC Lukas Aket.
