KUCHING: Sarawak has made the right decision in not enforcing the conditional movement control order (Cmco) in the state yet.

Kuching City South Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng described the decision as people-centric, saying: “It is a tough decision but made with courage and having a heart for all fellow Sarawakians.”

He said if the state were to follow Putrajaya, with coffeshops and restaurants allowing dine-in services starting this May 4, enforcement would not be easy.

“To me, it will not be easy to enforce rules because of manpower shortage. Besides, we are still in the red zone,” he said to New Sarawak Tribune.

Wee in his Facebook posting had asked if Sarawak was ready for Cmco after the ‘mess’ he saw: “Are we ready? MBKS sets the standard operation procedure (SOP) at all markets. This was what happened this morning (at Kenyalang Market).

“If Sarawak sets the SOP to follow Malaysia (federal) government, how will it happen?”
