SIBU: A Malaysia Civil Defence Force (MCDF) member tragically lost his life in a collision along Jalan Sibu-Bintulu here today.
The accident happened at around 8.20 am when the victim identified as Celtic Owen Gregory, 20 was riding his motorcycle alone.
Sibu Police Chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili, in a statement, said the victim collided head-on with a pickup truck, which entered the opposite lane (victim’s lane).
“As a result, the victim sustained severe body injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
“His body was later taken to Sibu Hospital for a post-mortem,” he said.
The 48-year-old pickup truck driver was reported to be unharmed in the collision.
Zulkipli said the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
