KUCHING: The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) will continue to provide better services to local entrepreneurs to help them increase their incomes.

Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Minister Datuk Salahuddin Ayub gave this assurance during his working visit to Medan Niaga Satok here yesterday.

“Efficient management and improvement of the current Medan Niaga Satok from the old Pasar Satok reflects Fama’s successful initiative in providing better services and platform for the local entrepreneurs in economic activities, especially in assisting them to earn extra incomes prior to Gawai Dayak and Raya Aidilfitri,” he said.

He pointed out the cost of establishing Medan Niaga Satok was RM46,576,910.60. It was built on a 12.25-acre lot at Jalan Matang in Petra Jaya.

The building started its operation on Jan 1, 2013 and has 1,100 lots for entrepreneurs, covering several main components such as Blok Kekal, Pasar Minggu, Pasar Borong and Medan Selera Benteng Satok.

Salahuddin added, “This shows that Medan Niaga Satok and other platforms can be developed better by Fama as an opportunity for local entrepreneurs to   promote local products and improve their economy.”
