MIRI: Members of the public are encouraged to continue donating blood to ensure sufficient blood supply in Miri Hospital.

Minister of Transport Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin said this is essential to meet the patients’ needs.“Miri Hospital cannot lack blood supply because it is needed to save lives.

The people of Miri are an example of a caring society.

Therefore, I hope that more of them from various backgrounds will come forward when help is needed.

“The public should also give full support to blood donation activities to increase the supply at the Miri Hospital Blood Bank,” he said.

Lee, who is also the Senadin assemblyman, said this when met by reporters at the Blood Donation Campaign @ Earth Day 2023, which was jointly organised by the Miri Red Crescent Society (PBSM), Junior Chamber International (JCI) Miri, and the Northern Sarawak Journalists Association (NSJA) held here today (Apr 23).

He said such blood donation campaigns are often successfully implemented as a result of strong support from all levels of the community.

As the PBSM Miri advisor, Lee expressed his appreciation to those who are always willing to donate blood without expecting anything in return and lauded the efforts by non-governmental organisations (NGOs), government, and private agencies in organising blood donation campaigns throughout the year.

The blood donation campaign aims to achieve 100 pints of blood, with some being distributed to rural areas such as Marudi, Limbang, and Lawas.
