KUCHING: Ministry for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development (KWPK) in collaboration with the Sarawak Press Photographers Association (SPPA) will organise an Iftar Ramadan with the homeless, urban poor, single mothers and orphans this coming April 14.

Its minister, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the breaking of fast programme would be held at the ministry’s Community Social Support Centre at Jalan Abell here.

“This is the first time we will hold a breaking of fast programme there and we will bring the homeless, urban poor, single mothers and orphans.

“Not only we want to have breaking of fast together with them, but we also want to introduce them on services that are available in the centre,” she said.

She said this during a courtesy call from SPPA at her office in Baitulmakmur building, Petra Jaya here today.

Fatimah added that among the services at the centre is the soup kitchen which now offers two free meals (breakfast and lunch) for those in need.

“We are also thankful for the contributors that donated foods such as breads, pastries, eggs and others for the centre food bank.

“Besides that, the centre also offers counselling services for them,” she said.

Meanwhile, Fatimah also said that photographers and reporters play an important role that channel necessary inputs in their reports.

“Through these reports, it portrays clear situation happening in our community and that helps us a lot whether in the ministry, department or as individuals to ensure the wellbeing of the community being taken care off,” she added.
