SIBU: The Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) will conduct a study to either rebuild the Jalan Oya Health Clinic (KK) or relocate it to a new location.

Deputy Health Minister, Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni, said that this is one of the proposals put forth by the Sibu Health Office, considering the urgent attention required due to the current state of the clinic.

“The clinic is currently facing an increase in patients, with an average capacity of about 1,000 patients per day.

“The number of patients has increased and this indicates the need to upgrade the clinic to at least a Type 2 health clinic,” he said during a work visit to the KK Jalan Oya here, recently.

The Sibuti Member of Parliament added that the proposals given to him would be brought to the Sarawak State Health Department (JKNS) for further study, whether to rebuild the existing clinic or relocate it to a new site.

“This will be a long-term plan to address the issues faced by this clinic,” he said.

Meanwhile, during his next visit to the Bintangor Health Clinic, he mentioned that the clinic would implement a digital record system, namely the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), to manage clinic records digitally.

“The EMR system will be introduced in several clinics throughout Sarawak, and a pilot project was initiated last year in five clinics.

“I hope the new policy announced by the MOH which aims to digitise towards EMR, can be implemented throughout Sarawak,” he said.

He added that the visit aims to assess areas or clinics that will receive projects under the Bitara Madani allocation.
