KUCHING: The Miri Hospital Blood Bank is organising the “2023 Earth Day, Invest In Our Planet” blood donation campaign to encourage donors to help replenish the current shortage of blood the hospital is facing.

According to a press release issued by the hospital’s public relations officer, Kenneth Numan, the hospital is facing a shortage of type O blood, which is in high demand for daily patient needs.

Numan urged donors, particularly those with type O blood, to come forward and donate during the campaign, which will be held at the Malaysian Red Crescent Miri Chapter Training Institute on the first floor from 8:30am to 1pm.

“Donors with blood types A, AB, or B are also welcome to donate to ensure sufficient stock at all times.

“Successful blood donors will receive a certificate of appreciation, a packet of 1kg shun rice, a bottle of 500ml Merris Lite Red Palm Cooking Oil (sponsored by Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad), an eco bag (sponsored by Miri City Council), a fan, snacks, and drinks. These items will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last,” he said.
