MIRI: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) president Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian has reminded constituents in Miri not to fall for the opposition’s fearmongering tactics during campaigning for the 15th general election (GE15).

“They tend to use scare tactics to mislead the people…and this (tactic) is the politics of the past,” he said at a press conference held at Piasau SUPP on Tuesday (Nov 8).

GPS, he said, was fighting for Sarawak’s interests, including getting back its income from tax, education and health autonomy.

“We also have to realise that this GE15 is crucial for the future of Sarawak,” Dr Sim said, adding that in Kuching, the opposition was using misleading slogans that said a vote for GPS was a vote for Umno.

“If GPS is Umno, why is the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government offering GPS or the Sarawak government a deputy prime minister post before election…last time we want to ask for this (the position),  nobody offered us.

“For 59 years after played a part in the formation of Malaysia, let’s achieve something that our forefathers never achieved…and come Nov 19 (polling day) please vote for our candidate Cr Jeffery Phang.”

Dr Sim also backed Phang’s manifesto to establish a cancer and heart centre in Miri.

“Miri, Sarawak is our home, we need to do something about it…and not just complain and protest…we want to establish a facility to provide better healthcare services to the rakyat.”
