Missing man found safe

MIRI: A 51-year-old man, Robin Bantan, who was reported missing after he left for a nearby jungle at Sungai Tutoh, Baram last Sunday, was found safe albeit weak.

According to Miri Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief Supt Law Poh Kiong, the victim was found by two local farmers in Long Kabong, near Mulu National Park here at 6.06pm on Wednesday.

“Upon receiving a report on the discovery, the search and rescue (SAR) operation team immediately rushed to the scene with several villagers,” he said.

Last Sunday, Robin went out from a family farm house at Sungai Besanan, Sungai Tutoh Mulu, Baram to a nearby jungle.

When he failed to return home, his family lodged a missing person’s report.

Following the report, a SAR operation was launched on Tuesday to locate the victim.

It takes about five to six hours by boat to reach Sungai Besanan, Sungai Tutoh Mulu from Marudi.
