BINTULU: A man who was reported missing in a forest at Batu 38, Jalan Bintulu-Miri on Sunday was found safe today.

The 27-year-old man, who was believed to be setting up a trap in the forest, was discovered by members of the public at 6pm, about 10km from the search and rescue operation control post.

The State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) earlier received a distress call from Bintulu district police headquarters (IPD) at 1.07pm, requesting assistance in searching for the victim.

According to the man’s family who made the police report, he went out into the woods alone at 8am on Sunday.

Worried for his safety, the family members immediately lodged a police report.

The man was eventually spotted by passers-by along the road to Bakun junction.

The operation ended at 6.15pm.
