MIRI: Curtin University Malaysia recently hosted a digital showcase event for 155 students from SMK Pujut and SMK Merbau, highlighting various digital technologies.

“A number of SPM leavers took this opportunity to deepen their understanding of digitalisation in construction, showing great enthusiasm for adopting new technologies,” the university said in a statement.

The highlight of the event was a presentation by Ir. Ts. Shazwan Ehsan from PCSS Consultancy Sdn. Bhd., focusing on how digital technologies like Building Information Modelling (BIM) and 3D Reality Modelling are transforming the construction industry.

Shazwan illustrated this transformation by displaying a 3D reality model of Kuching City and demonstrating the use of virtual reality (VR) in construction projects.

Following the talk, students engaged in interactive competitions and activities, including drone simulations and VR games, to experience firsthand the advanced digital tools used in the construction sector.

“It’s inspiring to see the enthusiasm of young students exploring digitalisation possibilities in construction.
