KANOWIT: An elderly man, who was reported missing after failing to return home from searching for wild mangoes (buah mawang), has been found by rescuers today (Sept 24).
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department said Lai Juing, 74, was found by rescuers around 12.45 pm in a safe but weakened state, approximately 9 km from the search and rescue (SAR) control post.
Rescuers provided initial treatment to Lai before handing him over to the police for further investigation.
Following the discovery, the SAR operation concluded at 2.25 pm.
On Friday, Lai left his house around 12 pm to search for wild mangoes at Ladang Template Ranan.
However, when he failed to return home by 3 pm, his family began searching for him without success. They lodged a missing person’s report at the police station on Saturday.
