KUCHING: Sarawak has now become an attractive investment destination for multinational companies exploring business opportunities.

Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor, Datuk Wee Hong Seng attributed this to the state government’s efforts to promote Sarawak’s potential on the world map.

“A new concept furniture supply and design store from China has now come in here and invested in Sarawak.

“And to me, it is because we have a stable government and the future of Sarawak is bright. I think, our Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has introduced and is promoting the state on the international platform which successfully placed Sarawak in the eyes of global investments.

“That is why, we are seeing a lot of new outlets and investments coming to Sarawak now, including this new Wayes Malaysia company, which chose Kuching, Sarawak as the destination for opening its first branch in Malaysia,” he said.

He said this to reporters after representing Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr. Sim Kui Hian at the official opening of Wayes Malaysia  here, today.

Wee said the opening of the branch is also a new chapter for the furniture industry in Sarawak.

“It has long been one of the leading stores in the field of custom furniture in China with over 1,700 chain stores nationwide.

“And today, the opening marks a new peak moment for the furniture industry in our country. With advanced 3D visualisation technology and integrated supply chain, Wayes is providing customers with a brand-new experience of one-stop home decoration.

“I firmly believe this will bring us a new starting point and an excellent home experience,” he said.

He added that these efforts indirectly contribute to the progress of Sarawak towards achieving the status of a high-income advanced state by 2030.
