LUNDU: Mohd Safwan Mahli and Nur Asmah Shamsulbahri were crowned as the Kuching-level Al-Quran Recitation 2023 champions for the qari (male reciter) and qariah (female reciter) categories, respectively, after defeating six others in each category.
The ceremony, which was held from June 23 to 24 at Dewan Mahligai Gading here, was officiated by Santubong Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.
With the success of the event, Nancy, who is also the Women, Family, and Community Development Minister, applauded the efforts done by the committee members of the Kuching-level Al-Quran Recitation 2023.
“There are a total of 35 qari and 21 qariah participating in this competition. This illustrates that many are capable of reciting the Quran. Alhamdulillah.
“To all the participants and winners, I would like to express my congratulations and well done to them. Keep fighting and don’t give up easily. Remember that with the hardships, there are pleasures that await. InsyaAllah,” she said in her speech.
