KUCHING: Over 70 local participants took part in the first ever PropNex Monopoly Championship which offers a RM50,000 cash prize and RM1 million worth of prizes.
The event, held at The Hills Kuching yesterday, was organised by PropNex Sarawak.
According to its agency leader Shirley Yeo, the championship here is not all about looking for the winner but also aims to teach participants how to manage their wealth and know market behaviour.
She added that it also aimed to teach participants which property to invest in.
“So this is the game that we use to bring the message to the people. Through this game, we can also connect with the community in a more friendly way..
“For us, the most important thing is financial literacy and how to manage one’s cash flow.
“This game is the start of it … to let others know that our company provides services to the public on real estate matters,” she said when met by New Sarawak Tribune.
She added that as the board game also taught the participants how to plan their finances, her company planned to bring the programme to university students to train them in matters related to real estates.
“Through games such as this, I believe it can be a great help for the students in the future,” she said.
