SEBUYAU: The Women, Family, and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri will announce new marketing initiatives to strengthen the Women’s Entrepreneurship Programme.

Nancy said this follows the increase in registered female participants in the programme to nearly 6,430 from the beginning of the year until August.

“We will introduce new products to give participants more choices beyond the current ones. This way, they can explore different options and expand their involvement,” she said.

One of the upcoming initiatives is the “Karnival Wanita Bangkit,” scheduled to be implemented before the end of the year.

The goal is to create positive changes and avoid simply providing aid, she said.

Nancy said this during a press conference after officiating the programme at the Sebuyau Development Hall yesterday.

According to her, since August, Sarawak has seen 4,317 participants registered, with over RM2 million in funds distributed.

To ensure the participants’ continuous success in entrepreneurship, monitoring procedures will be implemented.

Though the success rate is currently moderate, Nancy said, the focus is on improving their standard of living and reducing dependence on e-Kasih assistance.

She added that the 2 Years Exit Programme (2YEP) has been instrumental in helping participants lift themselves out of poverty while also benefiting others.

“Many people have realised their desire to escape poverty and, at the same time, help others.

“We have already witnessed some positive outcomes, even though we started this initiative during the COVID-19 pandemic. Moving forward, we aim to further improve its performance,” she said.

Also present was Batang Lupar MP Mohamad Shafizan Kepli.
