More startups urged to collaborate with Mosti

KUCHING: More startup individuals in Sarawak will be highlighted further, assisted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti).

In stating this, its deputy chief secretary (technology development) Datuk Ts Dr Mohd Norazaman Hassan hoped that more of the startups would collaborate with Mosti.

“For instance, in 2020 there was one company, which is an expert in Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the state named Roadplus, which is a collaboration with the Public Works Department (JKR), they managed to quickly highlight the solution to the road damage,” he said.

He also hoped that more digital solutions in Sarawak and Sabah would be solved by highlighting local talents.

He said this when interviewed by the media after the launch of MyHackathon 2022-Cohort 2 at Tegas Digital Village here on Tuesday (Nov 22).

When asked whether or not there would be more collaborations between Mosti and government agencies in the state, he said yes.

“For instance, Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd (Cradle), an agency under Mosti, is currently in a close collaboration with Tegas.

“And we are also currently increasing more of these efforts. In fact, from the aspect of science, culture and innovation, we also in a close collaboration with the state ministry and government agencies.”

Mosti launched the continuation of MyHackathon 2022-Cohort 2 that focused on problem at the level of ministries and government agencies through ideation and innovation.

Winners stand to receive a startup grant of up to RM250,000 to execute their pilot projects and a dedicated one-to-one mentoring session for 12 months.
