KUCHING: The Darul Ehsan Mosque in Kampung Sejingkat received a contribution of RM 4,000 as part of the minor rural project (MRP) Phase 1 here.

The federal Minister for Women, Family, and Community Development, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, a member of parliament (MP) for Santubong, presented the grant.

As part of the event today (April 7), two wheelchairs were also donated to the asnaf (needy individuals).

The contribution was made as a part of the Asnaf Sempena Bulan Ramadan programme, which Yayasan Ikhlas and Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (YADIM) Negeri Sarawak jointly organised.

The programme aims to provide assistance to 50 individuals from the asnaf group in five selected villages, namely Kampung Selabat, Kampung Muara Tebas, Kampung Goeblit, Kampung Senari, and Kampung Sejingkat.

During the event, YADIM Sarawak has also prepared 50 food baskets worth RM50 each and RM50 in cash as ‘duit raya’ to be distributed to selected beneficiaries.

A symbolic presentation of the donations was made to 33 beneficiaries who will be in attendance, with the remaining 17 beneficiaries being represented by their respective representatives.

The programme’s goal was to help those in need during the month of Ramadan, a time when Muslims around the world focus on giving and sharing with others.

It is hoped that this programme will make a positive impact on the lives of the needy people in the five villages.
