KUCHING: Beginning 2023, most of the projects under Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) have been moved to the related implemented agencies.

Its general manager Ts Dr Zaidi Razak stated that SMA will also develop and implement surveillance towards digital establishment and projects.

“We will also help spread the knowledge and information alongside other initiatives from governmental agencies such as iSarawak Care, Open Data Portal, smart cities initiatives and digital community centre,” he said.

He also added that Angkatan Zaman Mansang Sarawak (AZAM Sarawak) would continue to be the programme partners that is firm in implementing digital programmes and activities in Sarawak.

He said this when interviewed by a disk-jockey (DJ) radio at a local radio station yesterday.

Dr Zaidi then added that the efforts to educate members of the public on the digital knowledge are not exactly easy.

“With geographical factors that are very challenging, I do admit that sometimes, it is difficult to spread the knowledge.

“But I believe with competent talent development alongside current technology among the communities in our state, it can provide trust towards the investors in order to improve our economy,” he added.

In the meantime, communication officer of AZAM Sarawak Hassnal Hakim stated that several programmes including the Digital Inclusion Programme that would be held soon will involve collaboration between SMA-AZAM and District and Resident’s offices.

“It would also involve around 200 members of the public especially people within the rural areas,” he added.

The programme would be held in Sri Aman and Lingga on this coming March 20 to 21, in Dalat during the third week of May and at Long Lama in the third week of June.

The interview was held on air for 30 minutes through “Selamat Pagi Sarawak” programme.
