MIRI: A mother and her son were injured after the car they were travelling in plunged into a drain along Jalan Tudan last night (Jan 18).
The victims were travelling in their Perodua Kancil when they were rear-ended by a Proton Saga and the impact caused the former to accelerate forward and plunge into a drain.
Civil Defence Force (APM) Miri officer Mirwan Shah Masri said they received a distress call around 7.55 pm and despatched a four-member team to the scene.
The team found the 40-year-old woman and her 19-year-old son in a three-metre-deep drain by the roadside.
The mother sustained injuries to the left side of her head and suffered a suspected fracture to her left shoulder. Her son sustained minor injuries.
Both victims were given first aid before they were taken to Miri Hospital for further treatment.
