MP distributes food items to area under CMCO

Frontliners and residents in Kampung Bedega, Serian receive food supplies distributed to them on Friday (Jan 29).

KUCHING: Kota Samarahan MP Rubiah Wang sent food supplies as immediate assistance to frontliners and residents in Kampung Bedega, Serian today.

Kampung Bedega in Serian has been undergoing an conditional movement control order (CMCO) starting two days ago after a number of Covid-19 infections were reported in the area.

Rubiah said they were constantly monitoring and receiving the latest information regarding the Covid-19 situation, especially in Kampung Bedega after the first infection was reported last week.

“I was saddened to hear that our area has been hit again by Covid-19 lately, and one area, that is, Kampung Bedega, was ordered to undergo the CMCO.

“I hope that this decision to implement the CMCO in Bedega is received with an open heart and on the basis of our shared responsibility to ensure that the Covid-19 chain can be broken,” she said.

She also urged the public to pray for the wellbeing of residents of Kampung Bedega consisting of 54 families, and for the Covid-19 situation to calm down.

Meanwhile, Kampung Bedega Ketua Kaum Rantai Anggau thanked Rubiah for caring about their latest development and for expediting assistance to the frontliners and residents there.

Rubiah also expressed her appreciation to all officials on duty including the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela), Civil Defence Force (APM), Social Welfare Department (JKM), Serian Resident’s Office staff, volunteers, and others.
