KUCHING: In an effort to help improve the quality of care for patients going through physiotherapy in Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii donated exercise equipment to the hospital’s Physiotherapy Department recently.

“One of the equipment donated is a recumbent bike for patients that may be bigger in size or feel unstable on a regular exercise bike.“This is so that they can also do physiotherapy to help them recover, especially from an injury or even stroke,” he said.

Dr Yii added that they visited the department a few months back to understand their needs and how they can work together. The department put forth a request on some equipment they needed to provide better care for the patients. He said he made the application for the purchase of the equipment and it went through a proper open tender process to get the best value for the specifications needed. “We then allocated a total of RM16,800 for the purchase of the equipment, on top of an additional RM5,000 for the Physiotherapy Union in the hospital.

“This is the first few batches of equipment that we have purchased for the hospital. We will continue to work together with the hospital to provide the best for the patients,” he added.
