KUCHING: Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) is the only local authority to have obtained a five star rating Inspectorate Protection Safety Special Award (iAKKP) for achieving excellent results in its 2019 evaluation.

Its chairman Lo Khere Chiang said that MPP was the only council that had been awarded the five star rating while two other agencies in Sarawak that had received the award were the Syariah Court and Sarawak Customs Department.

“We were supposed to receive the federal award in Semenanjung Malaysia last year, however due to Covid-19, we were unable to fly there.

“Therefore, on Mar 19 this year, MPP received a courtesy call from Malaysian Government Securities’ Sarawak chief officer Ibirin Ina and he  presented the award to MPP secretary Elizabeth Loh,” he told a press conference via Zoom today (Mar 30).

Lo said that MPP was honoured to receive the award and would continue to give its best in service.

Later, Loh presented the award to Lo in a simple ceremony at the MPP office.
