MUKAH: The Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA) has identified 60 projects worth over RM1 billion for implementation here and Rajang Delta areas.

Officiating at the Pesta Kaul Mukah 2023 today, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said that the projects would drive development in these areas, with elected representatives and local leaders involved in the decision-making process.

Abang Johari also highlighted the potential for carbon storage in Kuala Rajang’s mangrove areas, which would generate income for the state.

Additionally, he mentioned that Petroliam Nasional Berhad’s (PETRONAS) Sarawak had discovered eight new oil and gas reserves, including in the shallow waters of Balingian province.

“Our future is bright, both from the hydrocarbon and carbon aspects,” he said, expressing gratitude for the state’s abundant resources.

With GPS’s strong financial position, he stressed the government’s commitment to implementing projects that benefit the people, especially improving basic infrastructure such as road connectivity, water, and electricity supply.

“We have increased the state’s income and revenue in recent years, thanks to our revenue reengineering and exploring other resources. As our economic standing progresses, we can carry out more development projects. This is our job as the government – when we talk, we deliver,” he concluded.
