THE Sarawak government is in the process of data collection and discussion with stakeholders for a service centre in Nanga Ngungun.

Assistant Urban Development and Resources Minister Datuk Len Talif Salleh said the centre would also service Ngemah and Nanga Dap.

“Since the Sengayan area is near Kanowit town, residents can obtain services from the town,” he said in response to a question from Alexander Vincent (PRS-Ngemah) at the DUN sitting on today.

When asked what the factors were leading to Nanga Ngungun being chosen, he said the town was located at the junction of the Sibu-Kapit new road.

“Apart from that, Nanga Ngungun is located between Kanowit and Song. The service centre will be located less than 10km from Nanga Dap and Ngemah.”

He also noted that among the services provided included a platform for commercial, cottage industry, community hall, and a station each for each police and the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela).
