KUCHING: Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi recently came to the aid of five Sarawakians stranded in Kuala Lumpur.

He said he managed to meet with them on Sunday upon arrival at KLIA and presented them with some financial assistance.

“They missed their flight to Sarawak due to some issues and they had financial constraints in purchasing new flight tickets,” he said in a Facebook post on Monday (March 22).

“I am grateful to AirAsia for allowing them to board a plane to return to Sarawak on Mar 27 at no extra charge,” he said, adding that the stranded persons would be staying at a relative’s house nearby.

Nanta also extended his appreciation to Rumah Sarawak Kuala Lumpur and Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing for assisting the affected individuals.

According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), among the stranded Sarawakians were Ariffin Ribai Empam, Bantan Tandang, and Wilson Dunggat Jumput, from Rantau Panjai, Sibu; Sungai Mador, Bintangor; and Sungai Segan, Bintulu.
