Never take social, political stability lightly

KUCHING: Sarawakians are reminded not to take the social and political stability as well as the prevailing peace, racial and religious harmony amongst them lightly.

“It took just one big scandal – the 1MDB scandal – to topple the BN government in 2018 and that was lesson enough for all to learn and to take notice. And not to take anything for granted,” said political observer Datuk Peter Minos in a statement yesterday.

He pointed out that in Sarawak, the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) must remain the flag-bearer, leader and protector of the state.

“GPS keeps all things going in Sarawak, the economic development, the peace and harmony and the fight for Sarawak’s powers and rights from KL. In all these, the opposition is nowhere to be seen,” he said.

He stressed that for making Sarawak what it is today, GPS must be placed at a pedestal – to be appreciated, supported and to be voted in at the coming 15th general election.

“When Sarawakians vote in the coming GE15, think of GPS. Think of what it has done and achieved for Sarawak and its people,” Minos added.

“Lastly, just imagine for a moment if GPS is not around: you would have the Malayan situation….political parties hitting each other, political leaders hammering each other, there is no consensus on anything, leaders so openly showing greed for power, people’s interests are ignored.

“There is political madness. It is so unsettling, bad for people and the economy. Without GPS around in Sarawak, all these can happen,” he warned.
