New community leaders appointed in Sri Aman

KUCHING: Four new community leaders were appointed in Sri Aman last Wednesday.

Assistant Community Welbeing Minister Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, on behalf of the Sarawak government, presented them with their certificates of appointment.

The four are Kapitan Goh Teo Soon, Tuai Rumah James Tekat Ranggie, Tuai Rumah Nanta Basi and Ketua Kampung Shaibi Bakir.

Three others - Tuai Rumah Charli Ata, Tuai Rumah Empol Melintang and Ketua Kampung Sharkawi Morshidi-had their tenure extended.

Meanwhile, Sri Aman District officer Mohd Ashree Wee said the appointed community leaders should think about the direction and goals their respective villages are taking.

“We need to understand their aspirations so that development can be implemented.”

Also present on Wednesday were Sri Aman District Office administration officer Rachel Deborah Doset, Batu Lintang Iban community leader Penghulu Mingging Sigan and Sri Aman District Council deputy chairman Andar Suntai.
