The major manufacturers of e-book readers announced several new devices coming onto the market in 2019.

Amazon’s new Kindle Paperwhite is available for around 140 dollars. The 6-inch illuminated display has a resolution of 300 pixels per inch (ppi). The device is more compact than its predecessor but, with 8 GB of memory, has twice as much storage.

It can connect to speakers and headphones via Bluetooth and play audiobooks and podcasts from Amazon subsidiary Audible.

The Tolino Shine 3 is available for around 140 dollars. It doesn’t have a home button and is controlled by swipe gestures.

The E Ink Carta display is the same size as its predecessor at 6 inches, but overall the device is slightly lighter and more compact. Resolution is 300 ppi and storage space is 8 GB.

The Touch HD 3 from Pocketbook has a more compact design and is the lightest of the three new readers. It has a 6-inch, 300 ppi E Ink Carta screen and 16 GB of memory. The casing is a striking copper colour.
