KABONG: A new mosque may soon be constructed in Kampung Sessang due to the deteriorating condition of the existing Masjid Ar-Rahman.

Kabong assemblyman Mohd Chee Kadir, said that for the time being, residents are encouraged to use the Abdul Taib Mahmud Community Hall for prayers.

“The Public Works Department (PWD) is currently reviewing the condition of Masjid Ar-Rahman. If they determine it’s unsafe, they’ll provide an official report,” he said after attending a committee meeting for the construction of the new mosque, Masjid Ar-Rahman Sessang, here recently.

Based on the findings, the Betong Division Islamic Office (PAIB) will make a decision about using the community hall as a temporary mosque.

“In the future, our goal is to build a new mosque in this area, ensuring our Muslim community can conveniently perform their prayers,” he said.

He also noted that the committee is in the early phase of identifying an ideal site.
